Christian Dior Was Graduated In Political Sciences

The family of French designer Christian Dior, who was born in the town of Grenville, a French port city, on January 21 of 1905, wanted the young Christian to be ambassador, so he graduated in social sciences.

Christian Dior was the owner of an art gallery, opened in 1927 in partnership with the French Jacques Bonjean. His first sketches of clothes were designed for the newspaper Figaro Illustrious, which published them in 1935. He participated in the Second World War as a soldier of the engineering core.

His first collection signed with his name was released in 1947 and was called the Corolla line. The models were of full and wide skirts, well marked waists and natural shoulders. The editor of Harper's Bazaar has defined the style in his column as a "new look". The phrase caught on and ended up baptizing the postwar fashion proposed by Dior.

The model symbol of New Look was the bar suit, a coat of beige silk, combined with a pleated black skirt, reaching to the ankles. Dior used to baptize his dresses with the things that inspired them: "Bobby" (name of his dog) and "Gruau" (a friend which was illustrator). There was also the line A, H and Y.

Dior's first store in 1946, is in Avenue Montaigne 30, Paris, and it works until now. He died on 23 October 1957 in Montecatini (Italy), victim of a heart attack. At the time, the Dior store network had 28 workshops and had 1,200 employees. After the death of Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, which later launched his own fashion house, took his post. Since 1997, the Englishman John Galliano is who is ahead of the creations of the brand.
